How can Podcasts change your business?
These days, it seems like everyone and their mother has their own podcasts. To those who don’t listen to or watch them, you probably wonder why it’s even worth discussing. To those who do watch or listen to them, you probably think it’s not worth it for you to try to compete with the immense volume of podcasts released every day.
Why Create Podcasts?
Podcasts are a great way to affect your website’s SEO, and to create content that Google and other search engines are putting a great deal of weight on. Your website and social media should add new content several times a week to stay competitive in the latest search algorithms. This means written content, podcasts, and videos. This content will go a lot farther than a simple blog or page on your website. Why? Because you can post them to other platforms.
You should upload every video you make to YouTube and then embed it on your website. This saves your website from having to store the video, keeping your website fast. It also allows the video to be shown to people YouTube thinks might be interested in the content. This is why it’s essential to add titles, descriptions, and hashtags to your content correctly. This helps the content itself reach new potential customers or gain more views, which in turn leads to increased customer base.
Audio content, such as podcasts, can be uploaded to websites like RSS.com, which will distribute them to various platforms, including Apple Music, Spotify, Amazon Music, and others. Performing the same function YouTube would for a video.
What About Written Content?
We love written content, we need written content, but it’s the baseline of a good marketing strategy. We always recommend adding new written content. However, creating engaging videos and podcasts to complement the written content will make it even more effective.
How Do You Make Content?
Making a podcast is pretty simple. Grab a few microphones you can plug into your computer (USB mics are easy and accessible), Use a program like OBS (free, requires little training, instructions easy to find), or a podcast creation program (like Riverside.fm) and start talking about something relative to your business, or discuss a blog you wrote. It doesn’t have to go viral; it doesn’t need to be a masterpiece. It just needs to share information that your potential customers would want to know. Additionally, it should be authentic, and perhaps have a local touch.
Keep it about 15-20 minutes in length. This is best for business-type content. You can undoubtedly make shorter or longer content, but keep in mind most listeners will stop listening if it’s long and uninteresting.
Don’t Underestimate The Power Of Content
You might be surprised at how many people will listen to your content. People love learning tips and tricks, DIY information, or insights into why DIY is a bad idea in their field. If you’ve thought about how it affects your business, it’s probably worth talking about. Keep it appropriate and professional, and you should be fine.
